"Rubber ball" mani, inspired by Nouveau Cheap

If you hadn't already realized, I'm horribly lazy when it comes to my nails. I love love love collecting nail polishes and all the colors, I love how there are so many shade variations but it's all just so darn expensive!

Every now and then I try to do a cool little mani. I have one lined up for Valentine's Day and I figured I could fit one more in-between, it's definitely something I'll happily attempt again! There are so many color combinations to use that would look great!

The other day I was browsing one of my favorite blogs Nouveau Cheap and came across this particular manicure post. The drippy nail look is something that's relatively popular and I loved the color combination that was used! I scrolled down to see the polka dot mani and wanted to try it for myself! Unfortunately, I'm a lazy slob and didn't have any bamboo skewers (or anything similar) laying around but I did have flat toothpicks!

Read more to see more pictures and what polishes were used!

The hand on the right (which is my left) is the hand that I did first. I had attempted to keep the round dot shape but as you can see, it didn't work out. I picked my first color, did 3 dots on each nail with said color, then repeated the process with the other polishes until my nail was filled up. I really liked how in NC's mani she left a bit of visible nail and also overlapped the colors, but I wanted to try something a lil' different! I tried my best to not have the colors overlap and to cover my nail completely.
It took me about 30 minutes per hand but that might just be because I'm a bit of a perfectionist.
I did things a bit differently with the nails on the left hand. I did 4 dots of each color instead of 3. I also tried to "plan out" where exactly I wanted the colors to be as well, compared to the other hand where I just placed color randomly without thinking.
Left to right:
Hard Candy "Matte-ly in Love"
Sinful Colors "Aquamarine"
Rimmel London "Posh Pink"
Sinful Colors "24/7"
Borghese "Incanto Purple"
Sinful Colors "Unicorn"

I showed the nails to my boyfriend and he said it reminded him of those bouncy rubber balls you can get in the lil' toy machines. I completely agree! I never thought about it before, but bouncy balls have some pretty cool color schemes that would look cute on nails!
